Question Checked in but no boarding pass AC?

Hi there,

I have a flight from Calgary to LAX, and connecting onwards to Melbourne, Australia. The flight is a united airlines flight, with a codeshare with Air Canada from Calgary to LAX. I have a Canadian passport, and I'm a permanent resident of Australia. The flight was booked for me via a third party travel agent. I made sure that the advanced passenger details were filled out prior to checking in.

I have tried repeatedly to check in via Air Canada for my first flight. My seat is assigned, I get through all the prompts, and then when I get to to the final page, I get 'sorry we could not complete the process, please see an agent at the airport." I called customer service to check what was happening, and to both of our surprise, I was already checked in. However, I never got a boarding pass or one emailed. I was told to see an agent when I get to the airport.

Has this ever happened to anyone? Could it be something to do with my connecting flight (need to check my AU visa status, or that because it's codeshare I can only check in at the airport as the second flight is UA?) or been selected for SSSS screening (I have had that a few times, my mum is on the watch list due to her high security position in federal Canadian government)? I just find it really odd that apparently I'm checked in, but I don't have any proof of this other than confirmation from the agent.
