It is a very convenient table (whether for a drink, iPhone or whatever) and a simple divider between the two CE seats. I personally don't have any particular issue with it being removed, although some may foresee squabbles over the middle seat with people maybe placing laptops or briefcases etc. there and monopolising the space.
