Having recently booked flights for first week of Nov. '03 (AC miles)LAX-NRT I can advise that from the west coast J class was available on exactly 1 flight in my 2 day window (excluding UA and AC flights - NH and SQ was what I wanted). If you want J book as far ahead as possible.
