I have used various straps like these over the years, and have never really been happy with any of them, They are kind of a pain to use and store, and not as secure as a luggage handle pass-thru. As you said, your bag will be a bit top-heavy with 2 laptops and a tablet. If I were in your shoes, I would look for a bag with a handle pass-thru. I know it sucks when you have a favorite bag, I have been in the same boat.
