You could ask at the BA desk opposite check in if they will give you a voucher for a taxi as they do then in irrops and they have to send people to LHR/LGW, Failing that depending on where the inlaws are coming from couldn’t you get from LCY to say Woking via Waterloo. Whilst BA probably won’t cover those costs it might get you brownie points with the inlaws.
