IIRC these are requirements for AAA listing as well as having a responsible staff person available on the premises 24/7.

With cell phones, a phone in the room is less of an issue. In fact, several times I've had to use my own phone to call the front desk when the phone in the room didn't work.

I wouldn't stay without a deadbolt or equivalent, as well as secure locks on any windows that can be accessed from the ground or (outdoor) corridors.;
