I would challenge the actual demand for a YYC-YYT flight. I'm from YYT, though I don't profess to be an expert, I just don't see this being viable year-round. Much of the YYT-AB traffic is via YEG to YMM and the amount of this traffic is now far lower than it was back in the days when fly in/out to camps was happening for far more people.
When you look at YYT-YHZ/YOW/YUL/YYZ, there's not a lot of selection of flights now which includes the continuing passengers to YYC and otherwise. Those flights are generally not on the A32X series, but 190s, DH4, etc. If AC were to put on a daily YYT-YYC, it would mean likely two less flight options for everyone else not going to AB.
As was mentioned up-thread, YYC isn't much of an AC hub, so it also wouldn't be that helpful for NL passengers who want to connect onwards to LAS/LAX/SAN/SEA/HNL/OGG/SFO, etc unless YYC got more flights and the connections all worked.
I think further evidence that this route wouldn't work is the fact that there is no year-round daily YHZ-YYC flight even with the potential connecting pax from NB/NS/PE/NL. I suspect a true look at the numbers would show that there are a few weeks around xmas and in the summer that the route would have high demand, which is also likely price conscious VFR traffic vs higher yielding business traffic.
