I agree, it is a good thing but if you take what the website displays as law I now have no option but to take what they have given me, which I didn't think would be true.
I'm not sure why this warrants opening a thread. Automatic rebooking in case of a cancellation several months before the scheduled departure date isn't unusual or exclusive to BA. FWIW it's a valuable solution as it reduces the hassle for passengers and airlines. Only the passengers, that don't agree with the new routing, call to have their flights changed.
