BA have moved you to another flight and you have a seat on it. Much better than leaving it for you to contact them and (eventually) rebook and find that the alternative service is no longer available.
I agree, it is a good thing but if you take what the website displays as law I now have no option but to take what they have given me, which I didn't think would be true.
As I have said before I could of called BA to find out, but the assembled company will give me a more detailed answer than the call centre and respond quicker as well!
