Thanks for this great trip report; it makes me even more excited for an upcoming trip my wife & I are taking in Mid-March. We're from Denver and doing Denver-Stockholm and then fly up to Kiruna (not too far from Abisko). Based on your comments we will now certainly go to Abisko while we're in the area.

Did you happen to make it to Kiruna? That's where we are staying. If so any recommendations/thoughts?
