Depending on where you wanna go you might be able to still pull it off, otherwise use your AP points to do a RTW trip and grab some other points to go to south africa or south america. Or use South Africa as your turnaround point in an RTW, it's not hard, I've been planning it for years, just haven't executed, I did have one ticket bought but then my plans changed so I had to cancel. Just gotta work at it bud!
I feel horrible - I'm not sure why I wrote South Africa instead of South America and as a result wasted all your time writing that great piece of advice. I was originally planning to go from YYZ to GPS, LIM and CUZ which requires AV Ecuador/Peru. Getting to/from is do-able using United but I think I'm out of luck getting within South America. Had this trip planned out in my mind for so long including the route and MPM and such but always just assumed AV was bookable using Aeroplan which I guess was my mistake! Maybe miracles can happen though.
