Take an AS/VX flight to ORD or JFK and then an AA flight to YUL. You’ll at least get mileage for the AA flight since it’s “international”. Then you’ll also get elite benefits for half or 2/3 of your journey. Funny enough - this appears to be less expensive than a direct routing.
