Same LAX to LIH flight. Add the SAN leg and it gets way cheaper.

Airfare is not priced on a cost plus basis, and has not been for several decades. They're asking for what they think they can get to maximize profits.

The LAX flight is nonstop, the SAN flight has a stop. SAN has competitors with nonstops. The demand curves for LA and SAN are very different.
