Spot on. Hippos are responsible for more human fatalities than any of the other large animals. I'm also always surprised to see people who have climbed on the roof of their vehicles to watch or try to get photos. We've been told many times that this practice is extremely dangerous and that it's always best to keep one's arms and legs within the confines of the vehicle. If one wants to get closer to giraffe, zebra or some of the other animals, much better to do so on horseback (which has been our experience).

I'm a bit surprised to read of the so-so food at Mara Plains. Among the best food we've had on our four safaris was at Ol Donyo and Mara Plains/Explorers.
