Yep, the SWUs are pulled at the time the upgrade clears. This is different from 500-mi. sticker upgrades, which are pulled when you actually take the flight.
Awesome, thanks for the info. This is my first year as EXP, and on that long a flight i dont want anything to go wrong that can be prevented ahead of time.
