Maybe AC should first ask you how much you're willing to pay and then offer you the type of seat/comfort you want? I don't really understand the argument, AC and other carriers already offer lots of choices/options in seating, priority boarding, lounge access, etc. AC has data that the most economical/profitable option for flying Canada-Scotland is to use a Rouge plane.
You can still fly mainline and connect or fly Rouge direct. Of course there are trade-offs but that's how the industry works and the cheaper seats allow even greater amount of general pubic to travel economically. Reasonable for you might mean too expensive for others. Or perhaps you priced yourself in that niche market that no airline will ever cater to.
