I've had some decent meat pies served on Qantas in domestic Y in the past - and they do have tomato sauce packets as well obviously. The pastry was perfect from my recollection. My preference is for sausage rolls only because they are less likely to make a mess than the gravy from a meat pie!

Nothing from Pret. I've just had several workshops where the catering was provided by Pret and even trying all the varieties over the course of 4 days there is nothing that I would say was edible or makes me want to by it again. Many of us were fooled by a coronation chicken sandwich only to find it was a gritty vege version. The chicken in mayonnaise had so few strands of chicken it in it was a ball of stringy mayonnaise. The ploughmans sandwich fell apart as you picked it up. The avocado sandwich was dry. Bleugh! I've had better sandwiches in hospital!!

I was well impressed with the catering on Cathay recently. Amazingly they manage to serve bread rolls that are soft and not rock hard and dry. Amazing for Y! Their main meals always had a choice of a Asian or western style one with a slight Asian twist. Noodles, Stir Fries as well as casseroles and pasta dishes. They always felt light but filling. They always had a choice of 3 items for the first meal and at least 2 for the 2nd service.

Looking at airlinemeals.net you can see the variety of food on offer and I sometimes do think that the nationalities that are more hospitable with their food culture tend to serve better and more imaginative meals by comparison.
