You're better off ensuring an Elite re-qualification, then during the next 2-3 years keeping an eye open for status matches or try to squeeze the 25K miles into every first year of your re-qualification cycles.
E+ only adds value when flying TK - i.e. the upgrade vouchers. And of course the soft landing back to Elite. But making it to E+ during year 1 of E doesn't actually add much to the overall *G clock (versus just re-qualifying for E in year 1) if that makes any sense...
