I sampled 1L and 9A on my last two flights - I preferred the privacy of the bulkhead, but couldn't really tell if these seats had more room. No galley or lav noise that I could detect from 9A except when my overly hyper purser was bring out the metal carts and slamming them around, but quiet from that point. 1L was very quiet and no problem with light from the galley.
