Take a look at Asia Miles website and you'll see the same thing. I was able to replicate the issue there for some sample dates next year.

I believe the issue is they block availability on morning arrival flights, saving those seats for connecting passengers. That would mean pax with HKG as final destination would need to grab the evening arrival flight (CX879).
