As others have said, if it isn't a tight connection the bags are brought back to the Bagroom to be sorted again. Only if it is a tight connection is it run FIN-to-FIN.

So if you are flying YVR-YYZ-YYT, and the connection is long in YYZ, then the bag is going back to the YYZ Bagroom and would be treated like any other YYZ-YYT bag for the second flight.
