That's not how the airport refers to things. There is only one building for Terminals B and C; in a sensible world, they would call it one terminal. However, the airport calls the southern half of the building "Terminal B" and the northern half "Terminal C". Each has its own Metro entrance and bridge from the parking garage, and each airline checkin desk is signed as in one or the other. As you arrive at the drop off area by car, the signage indicates the two terminals as if they were different.

Then from those "two terminals", there are three piers, labeled "Terminal B" (gates 10-22), "Terminal B/C" (23-34), and "Terminal C" (35-45).

See the airport's official terminal map. AA of course uses the same nomenclature as the airport.

I agree that the naming scheme is dumb.
