The food on IAD-MUC in Y was atrocious: bland spaghetti with a rock-hard roll. (I was out of GPUs that time, FWIW, unfortunately.) NRT-SFO in Y was edible, it not great, when I flew it a couple of years back (had a dog with me, so I couldn't fly in C). CM food the times I've flown them has been horrid, too, even in C (will be trying them again next weekend on IAD-PTY; we'll see if it's any better than last year...).
To me, Y food on airlines in general tends to be edible at best, and bad at worst. My longhaul Y flights have been on NH, LH, and UA, and NH is marginally better than the other two (with LH in last). Shorthaul Y, yeah, UA gets crushed by everyone.
