Yesterday I purchased a one way ticket EWR-PHX on United. It's a dinner flight on a 757-200 which appears to have flat beds in the front of the plane. Was offered an upgrade for $267. A couple of questions.
- How does this upgrade cost compare to what others have seen
- Is there any chance this upgrade cost goes down on the day of departure?
- Will I have the full 'polaris' experience with enhanced service and food/beverage? Or will this just be typical F service but with a lie-flat seat.
I am assuming this offer is via "Manage Reservations" and is therefore actually just an offer to change your ticket to First based on the current market price of an F ticket on your flight. The
route fare differential for EWR/PHX is $249. Personally I would happily take that offer, especially for a lie-flat seat (which is really to say, I would buy F). You are likely to see an offer at check-in of $249, give or take, which will
not earn you PQD (unlike the change option).
As mentioned, you get the same service as domestic F but a much nicer seat.
