Yesterday I purchased a one way ticket EWR-PHX on United. It's a dinner flight on a 757-200 which appears to have flat beds in the front of the plane. Was offered an upgrade for $267. A couple of questions.
- How does this upgrade cost compare to what others have seen
- Is there any chance this upgrade cost goes down on the day of departure?
- Will I have the full 'polaris' experience with enhanced service and food/beverage? Or will this just be typical F service but with a lie-flat seat.
I have no status at the moment and this is a W fare. Thanks.
EWR- PHX is a 3.5-4 hour flight. Typically upgrades range from $199-$299 (on the day of). Depending on what your current fare class is, you might be seeing the lowest available business / first fare. Also, you are the only one who can determine what $267 is worth to you. If it was a EWR- LAX/SFO flight, I would have recommended jumping on it.
You will NOT have the full-polaris experience. That is currently only available on 777-300 and 2 or 3 reconfigured 767's. Even if one of those aircraft are used for domestic service, you just get the pillow and blanket, rest everything (including food) is normal domestic first/ business.
