What would have happened if some oddball showed up with a paper ticket, or a minor, or someone looking to buy a ticket? Or, what about a SSSS passenger that the kiosk rejects? That could have created a very dicey situation....
I don’t know about United but I know Americans kiosks have an operator mode (so all those things can still be done at them)
