I might ask about the bag transfer at the Fauxlaris Club in the SFO International gate area tonight. The last time I did this, at HNL's UC after a transfer from Island Air, all I got was attitude. But my bag did make it home on the same flights as I was on. So maybe it's worth asking?
I always do this when I am transferring between 2 airlines, so that way they can confirm the baggage information is recorded on the receiving airline's PNR. At certain airports, they will also call baggage services to alert them or confirm that the bag was on its way to the second flight.

With that said, since both flights are on UA (since you mentioned SHARES), the confirmation is not necessary.
