Adding insult to injury was that this was for a non-profit client and is the stay was non-taxable, but Egencia charged tax, so I got dinged for that (they will book government rates for an extra $12, I was told after the fact).
So, armed with the Egencia receipt and a zero balance folio from the hotel showing nights stayed, I’ve requested miles from Marriott. I haven’t heard anything back yet.
I don't even even care about the points at this point, just the nights. Everyone seems to act as if the points are coming out of their pocket.
Unfortunately, if the rates says “may not earn miles or points.” it means exactly that .... NO points / miles
"may not" is NOT grey at all (aka mistaken as may / may not)
"may" on the other hand is a suggestion that one could potentially ....
As it is a rate that is priced not to include perks (points / nights etc), you will most likely not go far trying to get miles or nights for the stay.
If I tell you ... "you may not enter my house"... it is not an option nor subjected to any other interpretation besides stay away.
