Hi everyone, very informative thread and thanks for the information!

I changed some of my routing last night and it seems as though I have two domestic legs on a M fare. BKK-NRT-SFO-ORD-IND, with SFO-ORD and ORD-IND being M fares, with departure still about a month out.

I have a GPU applied on the NRT-SFO route, however the agent was unable to apply it to the rest of the trip because he said he would have to remove it and then reapply it again to cover the last two legs and possibly sacrifice the already confirmed upgrade.

I checked my reservation online and do not see any "instant upgrade" information (presumably because there is no PN space available). My question is, (based on what I have read so far in the thread) that these legs will not auto-upgrade on their own if space becomes available, so would I need to call in before departure to push through the upgrades if space becomes available?

I have the blue CPU arrows on those legs, and the "redeem upgrade" option at the bottom which takes me to the "redeem awards to upgrade" section and allows me to apply RPUs, which I do not want to do. Do I just need to keep monitoring and call to confirm the upgrade once PN becomes available?
