Quick update - I decided to try my luck and replied that I would accept the €300 whilst being very clear that I haven’t given up on eventually fighting for the full amount. Received a reply a few days later confirming they will pay the reduced amount ^
Will decide when I’m back from this trip in May whether or not I’ll take it further. Thanks for your advice everyone!
