Thanks for the quick replies! Apologies for getting the name wrong, haha. I guess because I am used to thinking of flying "American" so that ending stuck :-)

Since I fly international more than domestic, it seems perhaps I'd be better served sticking with oneworld. On the rare times when Emirates works for me and Qatar doesn't, I could put those miles towards Alaska Airlines when booking and then use those points sometime in lieu of a domestic American flight.
