StarLite rules permit no changes to segments up to and including 1st international/intercon segments once ticketed, regardless if travel has commenced or not.

Should be recalculated at original ticketing date prices with the difference between the two fares being the amount owed plus the USD75.00 reissue fee.

After fighting tenaciously, the UA rate desk insists that it is the difference between the old Star 1 fare and the NEW Star 2 fare.

I am going to try again after I have flown the first international sector, but UA seems determined to charge me the current prices (which are quite a bit more).
