CX already partners with AS, no OW required, and AS flies LAS-SFO starting April 25 when the VX merger completes, so no need for OP to buy a UA ticket, but OK.

AA will never allow AS to join OW because they compete in many of the same cities and routes. It’s about as likely as HX joining OW with CX’s blessings. The only way it happens is the same way US “joined” OW; by merger with AA...
