If you aren't so sensitive, then you're probably good to go until the end of February/beginning of March. It really varies by person (and by year) as to when things become unpleasant.
Personally, mid-March to the end of April is when I find it worst. Others would disagree.
Thank you for this info- very helpful. We'll probably have to be there before it begins anyhow since the booking window is smaller now with the Marriott merger. We're really looking forward to exploring this area. We went to Krabi and Koh Samui this year and had a lot of fun but we haven't been to a more jungle part of Thailand before. Any other things we need to consider? I think we need bug spray here but surprisingly we didn't have mosquitoes in any other areas we've visited. If you think of anything not to miss, we'll add it to the list. Thanks for your help.
