Facing an unexpected $6000 medical bill and wondering if there is a credit card to quickly churn to help defray the cost. Looking at the BA Chase card with me and spouse each getting one and spending $3000 each to reach the threshold for 50,000 avios each (and paying $95 each). My understanding is that the accounts can be linked and the 100,000 avios pooled so that only one account will end up with a stray number of unused points too small to use. The avios would be used to help my wife visit her ailing mother 1000 miles away multiple times on a domestic AA awards. How many one-way awards can I get for 100,000 avios? Is this a reasonable plan of action? I have already churned the AA card so can't again, and also they're only giving 30,000 miles now.
