Brand new, some flaws

Check In It was quite hard to find the entrance of the hotel from the parking garage. We went out the wrong ext and ended up somewhere in the middle of a construction zone. I later found out there is a direct lift to the hotel as well, but there are no signs anywhere. Check in took quite a while as the staff was not very familiar with the systems. I was not thanked for being a platinum member, nor any mention of Marriott Rewards. I was however offered a welcome cocktail amenity. But I am not sure if that was because of my status or not. The room was ready, and I was upgraded in advance to a harbor view room. This was not mentioned at reception, but I saw it in the app a day in advance. Some pictures of the common areas:The common areas were actually very nice and well thought out. It was a pleasant environment to be in, and I can image it would be a good area to work in. The ground floor is ste up like a U shape, making one of the corners very quiet for working. Room We were 'upgraded' to a corner harbor view room. at first sight it was nicely appointed, but quite small. After spending some time in there, we noticed quite a few flaws tough, making this one of my least favourite hotel rooms I have stayed in recently. Lets start with some pictures:Not sure how to make these photos horizontal. Anyways, the room was quite small, (all rooms are the same size). Everything was brand new and clean, the bathroom was nice, and had dispenser toiletries, only two towels were supplied, I would have preffered three or four. Now the bad thingsThe bed looks very comfy in the pictures, but me and my gf both had a terrible sleep. The bed was not comfortable at all, we both woke up with neck pain. The pillows were the worst and there were only two pillows supplied. For a bed this size I would prefer four, as you would normally find in a hotel. There is no storage whatsoever, no closet nothing. They have two hooks where you can hang something on the wall next to the bed. No amenities are supplier, not even a laundry bag. No bottles of water in the room either. There is a nice pool and sauna in the hotel, but they do not have any bathrobes available, nor any spare towels. They told us to use the bathroom towels for the sauna/pool. If this is their policy, they should supply more towels in the room. The view from the room was very cool tough, especially if you are into ships and boats. Design or flaw? As for the design of the room, I only noticed this the next morning at daylight. I will let the pictures speak for me:They painted the back wall, but left all of the concrete exposed. Now I would normally not care, but the concrete just seemed dirty! Also the woodwork was awefull, not finished at all. They could have at least sanded it right? I am curious what this will look like in a few years time. I am not sure tough if they meant for it to look like this or if they just forgot to paint it? As you can see the "inside walls" of the bathroom and behind the bed are painted nicely, in about the same colour as the concrete. Pool There is a nice pool and small sauna on the 1st floor. I took a picture from the atrium above: But as I wrote the towel/robe situation is very confusing. Location The location, it sucks... No other way to put it. There is a bus to downtown, that goes about every 15 minutes, but its frequently cancelled. We had to wait for 15-30 min twice. It takes about 18 minutes to reach cental station once you are on the bus. An Uber is about 6-7 Euro, so I would definately suggest that option. The area around the hotel is a complete building site. I am sure it will look nice once its done, but as of now its very messy. Overall This hotel could be a great hotel, but it has many flaws. The common areas are really nice, and it has a lively bar. The room is very basic, but clean, the isues with the bed would make me hesitant to return, but of course that is very personal. There is nothing to do in the immediate surroundings of the hotel tough. I would suggest to try the Residence Inn that is located in the same building, but on the higher floors. There is a parking garage under teh hotel, and its 30 euro per night. Which is quite a bit for a hotel so far form downtown. I did see that there is some limited street parking as well, so would suggest to try that. Platinum recognition is limited, they do upgrade, but there is not much they can upgrade to. Let me know if you have any questions.
