Some flight changes have impacted our planned schedule for visiting Indonesia and the Philippines, and I’d love a second opinion on how to absorb it.
At the end of July we’re visiting Indonesia for 7 nights, then taking Cebu Pacific’s nonstop DPS-MNL and visiting Pulo for 4 nights. Our Indonesia time was allocated as 2 nights Dari (we think our daughter would like seeing the monkey forest and bird park, and the Ayung River Gorge looked gorgeous to stay on for a few nights); 4 nights Kila; and 1 night Nusa (the MNL flight is at 8:30, too early to drive in from Kila).
Strike one against this was the management change at Nusa. We were advised to drop our reservation. Fair enough, the St. Regis looks nice for our last night.
Strike two is Cebu Pacific is no longer flying to MNL on our departure day (Saturday). They do the day before and after, just not the Saturday.
There are a couple redeye options we could take instead to get into MNL for Saturday, but they’d be really rough on my family. No-go with that.
We can’t easily change our Pulo departure date, so that seems to leave adjusting our time in Indonesia or the Philippines.
Leaving Indonesia on the Sunday means just 3 nights at Pulo, and that doesn’t seem enough, so that means cutting out a day in Indonesia.
Since we still need an overnight near DPS, given 5 nights to allocate, doing 4 Kila/1 Dari or even 3 Kila/2 Dari now feels like a poor option.
This gets me to the sanity check portion of the post — is this “too much” time at a resort?
- 5 nights Kila
- 1 night StR
- 5 nights Pulo
I really appreciate the perspectives.
