Yes but HA is not oneworld. I've never seen an additive oneworld award (although some routings are not allowed due to backtracking or other rules). I'm not saying AA doesn't do this, it is just news to me.
With DL also issues come mostly with non-ST airlines like HA, VS, etc.
With ST airlines, if the phone res agents go to advanced options (BEFORE the O&D search) and put in the connecting airport(s) and airline(s)) the suppressed routing will normally come up.
DL is opposite to AA in that it often only returns very roundabout results with lots of backtracking (sometimes as a through fare, other times not), and if you want to cut your travel time in 1/2 or by 2/3s and fly more directly, then you have to jump through flaming hoops to get that more desirable, shorter routing.
