I have been denied as well. With current state of connector flights is one of the reasons fly from YYZ or buy up out of pocket. If nice concierge sometimes makes a plan but they told me the rule was you go to end of WL
(Ps though I did once get three y seats yyz-fra and a glass of champagne from J )
