The recent message from Delta implied the account had been used recently. I can't get at that part of it for reason known only to Delta, but in the past there were 2 credit cards linked to the account and various personal details. I want Delta to delete the personal details and stop the emails. I don't think that is an unreasonable demand.
When my father passed away, we kept receiving all kinds of things addressed to him, despite the fact we'd informed them multiple times of his passing. It was upsetting, especially since I'd already TOLD them in writing that he had passed. I feel your frustration and pain.

However, on the handful of accounts where I was truly worried about identity theft, I submitted a copy of the death certificate as well as a copy of the paperwork which gave me the legal right to close the account on behalf of my late father's estate. Identity fraud happens all the time, and Delta doesn't have the facts at hand which you have at your disposal. All they have is an email telling them something which they can't verify otherwise. If they are asking for a copy of the death certificate, I would give them the information, redacted or in full.
