speaking as someone who dealt with a difficult passing of a parent, i'd not really want to get a bunch of promotional emails reminding me of them at the advertiser's whim. i'd rather think about the deceased when i want to.
that being said, it is very easy to go online and unsubscribe from all emails from DL if the OP has the login information. it is also relatively straightforward to set up a message filter to catch these messages and delete them before they hit the inbox.
or create a throw-away gmail address and then go and put that into the DL profile so that the messages go there instead.
