After some further conferring with colleagues (the CS agent genuinely wanted to be helpful), the only information thy could give me was that if there was a force majeure that prevented the ferry running and if I had proof of this it would be up to whoever was running things at the airport that day to decide our OKA-HND travel. Its not the answer you want to hear but its realistic. If i was asked the question i would say its airport/ba contact centre discretion on the day but ultimately they dont have to assist in changing the separate ticket. Therefore its a situation where you look at the worst case (most expensive) scenario which is you might need to buy a new cash ticket.
