I will just reiterate a point I made earlier: in reality you cannot mitigate this sort of risk by asking people now about it. Circumstances will be what they are, and in reality the only person who will know the answer is the person in check-in at the time of departure after whatever incident. Even if someone gave totally reassuring noises now, I simply would not believe it, unless they were (e.g.) the JAL station manager who would be on duty on the day in question. Therefore your mitigation comes via other routes, such as insurance, buying unnecessary tickets or self insurance.
