Went to a store today called Pet Supermarket, which seems to be some kind of southeastern chain with a couple very far flung locations near me out here in the west. NCR POS with Verifone Point pinpads. Pinpad does not activate until the cashier totals it out. Typical Verifone Point interface with insert/tap/swipe. Tried to tap and it was weird, my phone showed the check box and the pinpad beeped, but then nothing happened and the "insert/tap/swipe" remained on the screen and the blue lights kept blinking on the swipe side. The cashier said their system usually does "not respond to NFC." I was impressed the cashier used the term, "NFC." Tried a couple more times before finally giving up and using a physical card.
