You should know that your itinerary made no sense even at the beginning. I would never book a domestic flight to connect to an international flight, especially in Kunming where delays are pretty standard. Then 2 hours to connect to an international flight is way too little.
Morning flights aren’t so bad for delays, I have taken morning flights out of Kunming to Beijing and Shanghai without many issues. I seem to find more trouble with afternoon and evening flights, when a days worth of delays have compounded. Also, it was the best choice at the price I paid.
