What is the current fare on AA/DL/B6? If it is not much, I would book and have the certainty of seats. If it is significant, give it some time.

Not sure if you have plans in NYC other than using it as a transit point to catch your onwards ticket on BA, but you should definitely consider both the cost and wear & tear factor for whatever it is that you plan to do between ISP and JFK.
