I was denied boarding at YVR in October for having my middle name in my passport but not on my ticket. Flight was China Eastern to Dhaka with a transit in Kunming. Ticket was purchased via an OTA, if I'd bought it directly from the airline I think they could have fixed it for a fee at the counter. China Eastern said the middle name was required by the Chinese government.
