At least with Ctrip as you know well you can get good support fixing things. Try that with China Eastern or China Southern. For many of my flights in China Ctrip is a few percent higher but I will usually use them as they are fantastic at rebooking if a flight cancels or has a serious delay.
Also, CTrip will take my money. Like I said above, with the exception of China Southern, I have found using websites for Chinese airlines to be like banging my head against a wall. Why does China Eastern need my phone number to text me a 4 digit code just to get a price quote? It isn’t unusual, after going through all the hopes to get to the payment page, to find out their UnionPay page is broken. I don’t understand why they make it so hard for me to give them money...
