Hi DorsetKnob, I almost feel as though I should sympathise ; but of course that would achieve nothing for you.
Just reading this sends an odd chill through me - and that’s not only because of the distasteful issues described, but also the very measured & calm manner of your report (I have always been of the mindset that if a boss has occasion to reprimand a member of his/her team (assuming with justification), a relatively quiet style is invariably far more effective than a tone of dramatic, loud ranting).
But all that said, you really do need to convey your thoughts and thoroughly unpleasant experience to BA. This is not really about proper compensation (relevant though that is). It is more about underlining to the organisation just how low their standards were allowed to fall on this flight : a flight on which you were travelling - let’s not forget - in the highest of four possible classes, and yet where some of the concerns mentioned would have been totally unacceptable in any part of the aircraft.
As an aside, I myself just happen to hold a BA booking for seat 1A on a 787 in a couple of weeks or so from now. Having avoided BA longhaul for a good while in favour of other OW options, I chose to book a CW flight, and then to use up some Avios on an F upgrade. Right now - rather than looking forward - I’m feeling no little apprehension as to what exactly I may find once onboard.
