My flight from JFK to AUH didn't have the basic amenity kit in Y. I asked for a pair of socks and the flight attendant pointed me towards the newly added J amenity kit being sold in Y.

Later I asked him why that was the case. He mentioned there were a total of 3 people including me who asked for it and not a whole lot of people. So apparently they've made decision to not provide these by default to all to customers and only provide selected items (eye shades and ear plugs)

Didn't get to try the snack box. It was a red eye, and having the entire row to myself, I slept between the dinner and breakfast service.
